In detail

How wholly suspended sentence (abolished) works in practice.

Wholly suspended sentences were abolished in Victoria by the Sentencing Amendment (Abolition of Suspended Sentences and Other Matters) Act 2013, with the abolition completed across all offence categories by 1 September 2014. They are no longer available as a sentencing option in any Victorian court. The current sentencing options below immediate imprisonment are community correction orders, adjourned undertakings, and fines. This entry is retained for reference because older case law and material may still mention suspended sentences; it is not a current outcome.
