How community correction order works in practice.

A community correction order (CCO) is a sentencing option under the Sentencing Act 1991 (Vic). The court can impose a CCO instead of, or in addition to, a fine or term of imprisonment. A CCO can include conditions such as supervision by Corrections Victoria, unpaid community service work, attendance at programs (such as drug treatment or behaviour change programs), and restrictions on travel. The duration and conditions depend on the seriousness of the offence and the accused's circumstances. Breach of a CCO can result in the accused being returned to court for resentencing.
